FRED ANTHONY

OLA Amigos y Amigas! my name is Fred Anthony exclusive photographer for LATINAS inc.com.

Being the exclusive photographer for LATINAS inc.com come certain privileges, like choosing the pictures that ultimately get published, working with beautiful Latinas, and traveling to cool locations. Aside from the job I love to do I also like to play sports, relax with friends go to sporting events and watching sports on T.V. If you like to be active and enjoy sports like I do then consider yourself a friend of mine.

I was born in Los Angeles California and now reside in the the city of La Puente, just twenty minutes East of downtown Los Angeles. I have lived in several cities in L.A. county, located in the San Gabriel Valley (Azusa, Covina, El monte, Glendora, Baldwin Park and West Covina) throughout my youth. Since I was born in Los Angeles and my mother is from Mexico I consider myself Mexican American or as some would say I'm a Chicano. Many people often ask what was it that interested me in photography. Truthfully, I must tell you that if photography was not offered in high school I probably would have never enter this field.

(It's ashamed that with all the budget cuts in the California school system that many kids will never be exposed to this powerful medium.) "Make a Difference"

After graduating from Baldwin Park high school my hobby slowly turned into a small business with friends and family members hiring me to do small photography jobs. As I got older and better I noticed that this hobby was actually becoming quite profitable. While attending Mount San Antonio College in Walnut California to earn a AA degree, focusing on business as a major. However, I always found some way to fit some kind of photography course in, even if it was only lab time. As I learned more about photography I slowly became more passionate about the art I then wanted to absorb as much knowledge as possible. At that point I began to apply my business knowledge to my photography.

I'm a very visual person, I like things to flow, whether its a beautiful sunset, a 12 ft. ocean wave, or beautiful women, Curves attract my eyes tremendously. As a heterosexual man I love women just as much as the next man (maybe a little more), this led me to photograph women. I turned to fashion magazines and high art photography books for ideas & inspiration. I found that I really admired the works of Herb Ritts and Ansel Adams (the core inspiration for the 1995 Latina Calendar).

As time went on I found myself needing models for my portfolio. I would go to local photo shoots where models and photographers would help each other i.e. exchanging modeling for photographs or bikini jams sometimes held in Orange County. As I attended these events I noticed that there were very few or no Latinas attending these events. At that point (1993) I decided that I would single handily change this situation and create the very first all Latina calendar. Since then all my energy has been directed to photographing and publishing Beautiful Latina Models. In my opinion Latinas are the most beautiful women in the world.

I approach each photo shoot as if I were creating a work of art. I don't always accomplish this but I'm always striving for that end result. As far as my style, I really don't think I have one yet, I believe my style is far from evolved. I hope to shoot a ton more in the very near future for LATINAS inc.com, then we will all see a real style emerge. I hope you enjoy my work.

A word of advice for all young Chicano photographers. Photography is a very expensive hobby the way to pay for this hobby is to do other types of photography, whether its taking pictures of your friends, family, tia & tio, or someone's dog, charge them something; that little something will help you pay for film and processing for photos you want to take. Trust me taking pictures on the side beats working at Mickey dee's to pay for your photography.

Good Luck & Keep Shooting!!
